Dola Banerjee started archery at the Baranagar Archery Club in 1990 when she was barely 9 years of age. She represented India at the tender age of 16 at the Youth World Championship, San Diego in 1996. Since then she has been a regular member of the Indian women's archery team.
She was the first woman archer to secure individual berth for India at Athens Olympic Games , 2004.During her 20 years in international Archery she has represented the country at more than 50 competitions including 2 Olympic Games, 3 Asian Games, 6 World Championship, 5 Asian Championship, 11 World Cups, 3 European Grand Prix, 10 Asian Grand Prix, 2 SAF Games, 1 Commonwealth Games and many others. She has won more than 16 Gold, 3 Silver and 8 Bronze medals for the country both as Team member and Individually . She was the first Indian archer, both men and women, to achieve the highest world ranking of 5 in July 2005. She has won the Arjuna Award in 2005 by the Government of India. She was honored by Khel Samman & Kolkata Shri Award by West Bengal State Government.
The First Golden Indian Archer at CWG - Rahul Banerjee started archery at the age of thirteen. His first international appearance was in Youth World Championship in 2004; he won a team silver medal, which was the first world level medal for Indian archers. Rahul Banerjee is 28 years old with over 10 years of International career in representing the country in the game of Archery. He has represented India at more than 50 international competitions including 1 Olympic Games, 2 Asian Games, 3 World Championship, 3 Asian Championship, 10 World Cups, 10 Asian Grand Prix, 2 SAF Games, 1 Commonwealth Games and many more. He has won more than 15 Gold, 8 Silver and 4 Bronze medals for the country.
He has been a member of the Indian Archery Men’s Team which has finished on the podium on more than 12 occasions at international competitions. He was member of the Indian Archery team which was ranked No. 1 in the world in August
2010.
Rahul Banerjee was world ranking no.6 in Individual category in November 2008. He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2011 by the Indian government for his outstanding contribution in the field of archery.
He was honored by Khel Samman & Kolkata Shri Award by West Bengal State Government. He has been appraised with Sera Bengali Award by the esteemed media
house ABP Ananda . He has been felicitated by many other media and Governments organization for his outstanding performance in Archery.
